Susan loved her Wakefield Motel and Colonial Beach

Susan Kang took ownership of the Wakefield Motel in June of 2003. Unfortunately, Hurricane Isabel hit Colonial Beach, Virginia on September 24, 2003 and wiped out the Wakefield Motel and all its surroundings including the fishing pier that sits in front of the motel. Devastated by the storm, Susan worked relentlessly to rebuild the Wakefield Motel and the pier.  Through her dedication, the Wakefield Motel was preserved and rebuilt into the beautiful motel that stands today. The motel stands completely remodeled with 21 new units mostly equipped with kitchenettes.

In March 2010 Ms. Kang passed away. Wakefield Motel now stands in remembrance of her.
